Visit Twitter.com and click on Get Started-Join!
Go to Twitter.com and click on Get Started-Join!
Choose a Username that is free and click 'Create my account'
Follow these tips on How to Select a Twitter Username. Keep to under 12 letters, avoid using _ and keep it as close to your domain as possible (capitalization optional).
Click 'Skip this step' - you can, and should import friends later
You don't want to invite your friends until you have a complete profile. Give Twitter some time before you let everyone you know in on your new account!

Your friend recommendations will be inaccurate if you don't select each one by hand, at least for the initial 50. All friend suggestions will be based on who you follow, so keep your list as true to your brand on interest as possible.
Make your first post a good one!
Your first post tells users what type of posts to expect from you in the future. This is also a more friendly way to create your bio.

Complete the remainder of your Profile
Paste the text of your first tweet into the 'One Line Bio' field. Be sure to include "http://" for all addresses you paste into twitter, including your own URL. Without the http prefix, the link will not be clickable!
Check your Profile
This area will be the first thing people look at when they consider whether or not to follow you. Check and double check the information here to be sure that it is accurate!
Upload a Picture (make sure it is square)
A good Twitter icon is one that is recognizable at 15% of its size. Keep it simple! Make sure your image is a square before you upload it or it will be cropped.
